SPECHEMO Research Group - Applied Spectroscopy & Chemometrics

Faculty Members

Dr Amir Bagheri Garmarudi

Dr Bagheri had stated his collaboration with the research team since 2004 and his MSc thesis was entitled “Discrimination between normal and cancerous tissue by Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy and chemometrics” supervised by Prof. Khanmohammadi. Later he started PhD of analytical chemistry in collaboration with University of Valencia, Spain and his thesis was entitled “Novel applications of infrared spectroscopy and chemometrics in petroleum industry” co-supervised by Prof. Khanmohammadi and Prof. Miguel de la Guardia. He had also conducted research proposal on nanotechnology both in MSc (Investigating the effect of nano silica on polymer composites’ characteristics) and PhD (Investigating the capability of carbon nano fiber in removal of mercaptan compounds from a petroleum based hydrocarbon system). During his PhD, Dr Bagheri had 2 research visits in Hungary (Institute of Chemistry, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, 2011) and Spain (Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of Valencia, 2012). After PhD graduation on 2013, Dr Bagheri has become faculty member in department of chemistry and continues to be a member of SPECHEMO research group

His main research interests are:

-      Analytical Spectrometry

-      Applied Chemometrics

-      Nanotechnology
